Team
After spending a year in Uganda
(east Africa) with a humanitarian project where as a self trained
mechanic he was in charge of the projects fleet of vehicles,
Emmanuel Stern arrived in Geneva at the age of 18 to
study mechanics and engineering to enable him to make a trade of his
talent.
Having already attained a certain experience in the trade, Emmanuel
was able to shorten his curriculum down from 4 to 3 years and still
finished best of not only the school but of the whole canton of
Geneva in the finals exam, winning the AMAD “award for excellence”
Wishing to break the standard pattern, or at least not become part
of it, Emmanuel worked his way through his studies as an evening
mechanic, building up not only the foundation of his professional
equipment and of course ever more practice but also the beginning of
what was to become his clientele.
The Pitstop Garage, founded by Emmanuel and Roger Thomet a long time
friend who brought his financial support to the Garage, officially
opened its doors in 2002 after Emmanuel had obtained his diploma
with the Geneva Mechanics
School.
In 2003, to keep up with a trade in constant evolution,
Emmanuel enrolled in the Brevet Federal training, a curriculum that
offers the highest level in mechanics and diagnostics available in
the Swiss automotive industry today.
In 2004 the Pitstop welcomes the arrival of Samuel Lipinski, also in
training for the Brevet Federal, and world wise from his experience
from working previously as a technician for several different makes
of car.
Bravo to Emmanuel and Samuel who both successfully passed the finals
exams and have obtained the prestigious Brevet Federal in October
2006. Only 3 of the 17 candidates inscribed in the course passed the
exam !
To complete the Pitstop team we should present Valère Mermoud, our
apprentice who has already left his impressions at the mechanics
school as having an excellent technical level. Serge De Zan our long
time partner for bodywork repairs who, with his many year of
experience, always leaves that brilliant finish.
Last but not least, the latest arrival for 2007 is our new mechanic
Telmo Ferreira, with a fresh burst of energy to help us keep up with
our ever increasing clientele.
